What I Loved in July

A collection of things I loved in July, from beauty products and fashion to entertainment and everything in between.
What I Loved in July 2020: Vegan Dream Pops

A couple of months ago I tried these plant-based Dream Pops and instantly became hooked. They come in flavors like vanilla matcha (my favorite), chocolate, berry, coconut latte, and mango rosemary. Not only are they refreshing on a scorching summer day, but each pop is only 100 calories and they’re vegan, gluten-free, and soy-free.

What I Loved in July 2020: Eyeko Beach Waterproof Mascara

Last summer I fell in love with Eyeko Beach vegan waterproof mascara for a few reasons. First, it keeps my lashes curled. Second, it doesn’t weigh them down and third, it doesn’t smudge. I’ve tested countless brands that claim their mascara is “waterproof” when it isn’t. After a few hours of being in the sun or in the water, my mascara would run above and below my eyes. Not Eyeko’s though. It’s the first one I’ve tried that actually does what it says, which is “it will take you from the beach to the bar”.

What I Loved in July 2020: 90s Scratch-off Poster:

Being obsessed with the ‘90s I had to order this scratch-off poster. It features 90 days of references to the best decade. With cultural reminders on things like music, fashion, tech, food, and fun, it’s the nostalgia we all need right now!

What I Loved in July 2020: Resistance Bands

To say my workout routine has evolved would be an understatement. I haven’t stepped foot inside a gym since before Covid-19 changed everything. Even when the gym orders were lifted in Los Angeles, I still avoided them because I didn’t feel comfortable wearing a mask while working out, but I also didn’t feel comfortable not wearing one. I’ve bought a ton of workout equipment, but my latest purchase (and favorite) are these resistance bands. I can use them pretty much anywhere (I’ve hooked them onto a door, used them at a playground, and attached them to a fence), and they’re easy to transport. They come in a variety of resistance: 40 lbs, 25 lbs, 20 lbs, 15 lbs, and 10 lbs. You can use just one or stack them for a tougher workout. The kit also includes a door anchor, hand grips and ankle straps so you can get a full-body workout no matter where you are. At the gym, I would often use the universal machine to tone my arms, back, abs, and legs. This is the closest thing I’ve found because I’m able to do a lot of the same movements while achieving the same results.

What I Loved in July 2020: Demeter's Salt Air Spray

Another product from last summer that I repurchased again is Demeter’s Salt Air spray. I talked about how I associate this scent with my teen years at the Connecticut Shore. Last year was the first time I bought it since I was about 16 and the aroma instantly brought me back to those moments, so it was only fitting that I purchased another bottle to take with me to the beach this year.
